The Daisy
Oil on canvas (2019)
14”x11””x1/2”
I picked this little daisy one day and held it in the palm of my hand. I admired its perfect petals and lively yellow belly. I put in in the car door and forgot about it for some time. It was that evening I think when I noticed it. Most of its petals had fallen off, it was tired. I took a photo anyway as one petal fell. In that moment it was the most beautiful flower I had ever seen. Later I painted it and was reminded of the beauty of ageing and letting time naturally bring about physical change.
