I laid my first pair of work boots on the dancefloor to prepare them for retirement. They were worn and torn and covered in paint, a reflection of the hours I spent painting and sculpting and building. I had purchased the boots in Ireland and travelled to Vancouver with a vague sense of what was required to work in the film industry, a set of skills waiting to be utilized and bucket loads of enthusiasm. Two years later I felt a sense of pride being able to throw out my first pair of boots and pay homage to not only the shoes that had protected me but to the people I had met along the way, the ones who had given me opportunities and believed in my abilities and the friends and family that had supported me along the way. I finally experienced the joy of job satisfaction and I look forward to many more years of it!
